Viral video clips appeared to show Jones flashing his middle finger toward opposing supporters, though he insists he was actually giving a thumbs-up to Dallas supporters in attendance as his team secured a decisive win.

“It was regrettable. It was essentially an exchange with our fans out in front of us,” Jones explained during a Tuesday interview. “There was a large group of Cowboys fans—not New York fans, our fans. The whole venue was filled with enthusiasm for the Dallas team.”

He further emphasized that the signal was completely accidental, occurring amid the elation following the team’s final touchdown. “I simply showed the wrong digit,” he remarked. “The action was inadvertently done. I’m not kidding. If you want to call it unplanned, you can. However, it got corrected pretty quick.”
